Just outside the city, a tower stands at nearly 100 feet that helped bring drinking water into Nottingham. Built more than 70 years ago, the Swingate Water Tower dominates the skyline around the town Kimberley just off the A610. Great waypoint or place to meet others. Good views and can be seen for miles. The the west is a very erroded gravel track which is good fun!

Oldmoor Wood is a small area of mature woodland with a series of nice trails running through it. You can make a nice loop by joining up the other areas of woodland around here with the Nottingham Canal.

Shaw's Plantation is a small copse of mixed woodland that survived the motorway and local building/farming. The Robin Hood Way runs along the southern edge.
