The view of the Rhine is always very calming.

The "Blick auf den Rhein" (View of the Rhine) in Walluf, Rheingau-Taunus district, is a popular destination for anyone who loves nature, water, and panoramic views. This viewpoint is a real highlight, especially for bike rides along the banks of the Rhine.

The vantage point offers a fantastic view over the Rhine plain, the Rheingau region, and the surrounding vineyards. 🍇Erected in 1932 in honor of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the striking tetrahedron commemorates his spa stay in Wiesbaden in 1815. At that time, Goethe wandered through the vineyards and returned to this place again and again – fascinated by the landscape and its geological features.

To mark the company's 100th anniversary in 1964, the Dyckerhoff cement works (Dyckerhoff GmbH) and the city of Wiesbaden donated the pedestrian bridge over the Schierstein harbor entrance at river kilometer 506 of the Rhine. After a three-year planning and construction phase, the structure was completed in 1967. For the first time in Germany, lightweight concrete, developed by Dyckerhoff, was used for the prestressed concrete structure to reduce weight. Thanks to the cantilever construction method, shipping remained unaffected during the bridge's construction. A total of 160 cubic meters of lightweight concrete and 240 cubic meters of standard concrete were used. The approximately 95-meter-long bridge arch spans the 80-meter-wide harbor entrance at a crest height of 16 meters, allowing passage for ships belonging to the Waterways and Shipping Directorate moored in Schierstein harbor even during high water. The bridge is three meters wide and has a total length of 150 meters.
