Well-kept, clean bothy, inviting for a night😴

Great area to explore. High Pike never fails to get the HR up! Lovely views from Great Cockup to back of Skiddaw. Can get quite boggy across the common in parts but some good trails from Longlands/ Brae fell way

Second time visiting, an important stop along the Cumbria way the first time. There used to be loads of supplies that kind people left until idiots had a fire in there. Thanks to the members for the upkeep of this important stop along a windy walk!

An old blacksmith’s shop and cottage for workers from the nearby lead mine, Greg’s Hut is now a respite for weary walkers tackling Cross Fell in the Pennines. England’s highest bothy at 700m, Greg’s is roomy but on the basic side – there’s a raised platform for sleeping, a wood-burning stove and a few odds and ends. But if you come armed with a flask of tea, a thick sweater and some kindling to get the fire going, Greg’s Hut makes for an authentic bothy stay in glorious surroundings.

Had our first family bothy experience in Lingy Hut. The kids loved the short walk-in from the mines and we had a fantastic sleep despite the wind and rain.

A walk to the top of Helvellyn is one of the most popular and adventurous walks in the Lake District through both Swirral Edge and Striding Edge ridges.
