Bibury is often titled the most beautiful village in the whole of the UK, and for good reason, Its idyllic beauty and quintessential British charm make it really stand out from the crowd. Perhaps the most iconic feature of this delightful little village is Arlington Row, a row of 17th century cottages which overlook the tranquil River Coln.

Visit on non peak days/months and times it will be much more enjoyable

Famous for its honey-coloured traditional Cotswold stone buildings, Bourton-on-the-Water is often referred to as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'. The River Windrush runs through the middle of the town with five stone bridges crossing it. The bridges were built between 1654 and 1911.

Lower Slaughter is a beautifully quaint village with the Little Eye stream running through the middle of it. The village mill with original water wheel sits proudly on one side of the stream.

St James' Church as you see it today is a 15th century building but it incorporated parts of the earlier Norman church. The Norman church would have dated back to around 1180. It's grade 1 listed.

The market hall was built in 1627 to provide a shelter for traders. In the 1940s it was almost sold to an American, but the local people raised enough money to buy it instead and gave it to the National Trust to preserve. This is the start of the Cotswold Way. A 102 mile (164 km) National Trail from here to Bath.

Go to Broughton-on-the-hill, just behind the Church is a path that joins with Heart of England Way where you can walk to Sezincote House for free. If you want to go in the House and Gardens at close proximity you will need to pay for a ticket and it is usually only open in the week. Check their website for seasonal opening hours.

Incredible Indian Mughal Palace, the only of its kind in Europe, try visit in the week when you can explore the House and Gardens for a small fee too.

A beautiful village with several places to eat and drink whilst you re-fuel and watch the world go by.

Great start & finish point. Lots of places to have a coffee, a cup of tea or something stronger and plenty of choice if you want something to eat too. Not an expert but the shopping looks interesting as well. Worth a visit.

Lower Slaughter and its mill are stunning and absolute Cotswolds highlights. The Slaughters villages and the beautiful roads around are a must see for visitors to the area. Unfortunately the large number of tourists seems to take a toll on (some of) the locals. Last summer, on a particularly warm day, the operators of the little ice cream and tourist shop in the mill refused the request if they could refill a single bidon with tap water with the sentence: 'We do not have that facility here!' Quite disappointing.
