This is a fun and rocky descent or ascent (depending on direction) through towering pine woodland. Be careful in autumn as the leaf fall can cause a slippery surface.

Quite road , lots of shade. lumpy whichever direction you go.

A fascinating museum that includes the prototype of the WWII Mosquito fighter plane ( and a damn good cafe)

This whole area looks great for a bivvy or for further exploration on the singletrack here.

There's a great bit of downhill dropping down from the farmer's fields to get here.

@jake I think they've deliberately mis-spelt the strava segment name to be more polite!! :-) Top tip from Alex S and absolutely spot on! Also if you continue past the bridge without crossing it the road back up the hill is very poor with significant pot holes!

NOT a road cycling section. I ride this often on other bikes, but apart from on a very dry summers day, this isn’t for road bikes. And even on a summers day there’s still a few hundred metres of chunky gravel.

Very reasonably priced cafe and an amazing museum to look around if you have time

Quaint and affluent, Aldenham is a lovely Hertfordshire village. It is home to a golf course, the Gothic Revival mansion of Wall Hall and the Aldenham Country Park, which is located to the southeast towards Elstree. You can find good food at the 17th-century Round Bush pub.

Long legging highly recommend

Very enjoyable and informative visit at the de Havilland aircraft museum. Plus the country lanes to get there from North London are lovely. We also ate there. Very basic sandwiches from behind the ticket office. Plan to eat before or bring your own picnic and you'll have a great day out at the museum.

Quiet. Smooth. Green. Downhill when going west>east. Gentle uphills going east>west. Great alternative to the busy Ridgeway to get you to Enfield Town, though there are 3 hills once your turn right at the end of Coopers Lane Road, still less traffic though.
