The views across the island-studded sea from here is spectacular. It's no wonder than the Træn Mountains are considered some of the most legendary in Helgeland.

1,969 feet (600 m) through the rock at a gradient of up to 20 percent is a challenge, but the rock is nice and cool even in midsummer. A headlamp is a must, because the tunnel is not lit and has a few bends. It is pitch black otherwise.

The hike in the western and northern parts is not recommended. The path is very narrow, overgrown and has unmarked climbing sections on the northern side.

The small Peter Dass Chapel is a place of peace and security, built on bare rock close to the sea. When it is raining and windy outside, you enter the chapel and immediately feel the warmth of the place. Thick walls and small windows shield the interior from its surroundings. A perfect place to take a break on the cultural hiking trail.

Anyone who goes to Traena arrives at Husoy, the island with the houses. The neighboring island with the distinctive rocks is called Sanna and is known primarily for its huge cave, where a music festival takes place in the summer. A public ferry regularly travels to Sanna. From the viewpoint near the water tower you have a beautiful view of the neighboring island of Sanna.

Aloha Hawaii, the story is told in the small Bygdemuseum, here in the café there is an interesting mixture of exotic decoration and Norwegian functional architecture. The café is worth a visit mainly because of the friendly owners and many home-made dishes and drinks.

The small town museum not only tells the story of Traena and Hawaii, but also has beautiful exhibits about the origins of the community. The oldest traces of human life on the island are an incredible 8,000 years old - three fish hooks carved from bone that now adorn the coat of arms of Traena. Really nicely done.

The island has its own beer, which is only available on the island.
