The "Steinbua" shelter was and remains a refuge in case you're caught in a storm or fog. Located by Mørbekktjønna, a small lake, with a direct view of the (calving) glacier, it's a stopover before the final 2.3 km to Rabothytta.

The Jubileumshytte of the Norwegian Tourist Association (DNV), accessible on foot in the summer and on skis at Easter, is located directly at the foot of the Okstindan Glacier, offering a stunning view. Bulletproof windows, as hurricane-force winds can sometimes be experienced up there.

This rough and ready cabin is passed on the trail up to Rabothytta on the very edge of the Okstindbreen glacier. Unlike Rabothytta, which has many amenties, Steinbua is primarily used as an emergency shelter.

Situated at around 3900 feet (1,200 m), Rabothytta is perhaps Norway's finest DNT cabin. The views from the building are excellent, taking in the Okstindbreen glacier and the Okstindan, which contains Northern Norway's highest peak: Oksskolten, at 6,286 feet (1916 m). It's very busy during the summer months, so it's worth booking well in advance.

Very nicely located hut! One of the few DNT huts in the north that have electricity and can also be reached by car. There is also a sauna here. The bedrooms are sometimes very narrow.

Stekvasselv gard is a former farm where beds are rented out. The accommodation has been newly renovated and is very modern and beautifully furnished. Many books can be found here about Norge pa langs, and the hosts are extremely helpful. Taking a rest day here (can also happen spontaneously if not fully booked) is definitely a good idea.

For hikers there is a small Stabbur for overnight stays. In the Fjellstue café you can eat good burgers.

The operators are very friendly and help where they can. I broke a trekking pole and was lucky that Håkon was able to get me a replacement. Otherwise a great place for a day off - a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with washing machine. Mobile phone reception is difficult, but WiFi is available. This is also a good address for people who send themselves supply packages in advance. All in all - full recommendation!
