The area around Trones in Namsskogan is rich in wildlife, benefiting from its proximity to Børgefjell National Park. Large mammals like moose, and less frequently bear, lynx, and wolverine, roam the forests and mountains. Semi-domesticated reindeer graze in the area, and a variety of birdlife, including eagles and ptarmigan, can be spotted. The trails will be marked from May 15th (open continuously when the snow clears) through September 15th. Some are short, others a little longer. Some of them can be completed in an afternoon while others require a full day. Most of them have to be covered on foot, while some can be covered in whole or in part by bike. Some are easy, others a little more difficult. In short, these are courses that most people can try their hand at. The Nordleden begins at Gløshaug Kirke, the northernmost of the Olafswege, all of which lead to Trondheim. The Nordleden is 135 km long and ends in Stiklestad at the church, said to be built on the spot where the canonized (after his death) Olav Haraldsson, then King of Norway, fell during the battle of July 29, 1030.

No entry - power plant!!!

On Gløshaugen, where the church is located, was a stave church from around 1300. On February 21, 1689, Prost Peder Resen sent a request to be allowed to demolish the old stave church and build a new church. In the same year the construction of the new church began. With the construction of the new church in Harran, consideration was given to demolishing the church in Gløshaug. But an English sport fisherman bought the church. Today it belongs to the Grong commune. The church is the starting point of the Nordleden, a pilgrimage route to Trondheim. It is high above the Namsen valley, so that you have a great view of the landscape from here.

South of Formofoss, Sandøla plunges 34 meters into a narrow rocky gorge. In the rock you can see beautiful whirlpool pots. At Kv 4258, which branches off from the E 6, there is a small parking lot, from which a steep path leads down to the waterfall.

Not far from the E6, it's worth it!
