Shortly before the end of the climb, you pass through this beautiful old gallery. You could even camp here and grill your Thuringian sausage.

We drove this section before the camper vans finished their breakfast. They seemed to love this route too; it was truly wonderfully quiet and beautiful.

We stayed at the Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell in this beautifully preserved old fishing village. The rooms were decorated in traditional style, and we felt like we were in a captain's cabin. After a short walk around the village, we relaxed in front of the house and enjoyed the evening sun. In the evening, we had dinner in the adjoining restaurant. The local beer, "BergStout Glück Auf" (see photo), was particularly interesting.

Ideal place for a hike

Nice to cycle via the old road. Partly gravel, and some small hills. Can take a round trip via Eiaveien.

The Jøssingfjord is surrounded by steep mountain slopes, the end of the fjord consists of a scree field. The country road winds over rocky slopes down to the water, past a former farmstead that is sheltered from the wind and weather under an enormous rock overhang (“Helleren” in Norwegian).

Definitely don't drive past. Up here you have a great view over the Jøssinfjord. Numerous (but quite difficult and strenuous) hikes also start here. A short detour to the Tunnelstuo is also worthwhile.

Meanwhile (2021) paved excellently. We recommend. The climbs are worth it!
