Bennauer Mühle was a historic mill in the Westerwald region of Germany, first mentioned in 1554. It operated as an oil and grain mill, but was closed around 1900, and the building burned down in 1932.

According to the website of ANUAL e.V. (Asbacher Land Working Group for Nature and Environmental Protection), the association acquired this building in 1997. Since then, it has been renovated and redesigned with many hours of volunteer work by members and friends of the association. A "gem" that is second to none!

One of the positive surprises. The three kilometers are strenuous, but the valley is very beautiful. It's good to see that the forest is overcoming the spruce dieback.

In the small city park next to the Catholic parish church of St. Margarita, there is an old basalt wagon and a blasting bunker, both of which are connected to former basalt mining. This bunker was used to store explosives used in basalt mining in the region. The Bennauer Mill is a former oil mill on the Pfaffenbach. The hamlet and its surroundings exude pure idyll. A very nice place to take a short break.
