바다에서 온 조직적인 혼돈! 웬두인의 인상적인 'Het Wrakhout' 다리는 Koninklijke Baan 위에 놓인 길이 83미터의 자전거 및 보행자 다리입니다. 2014년부터 Uitkerkse Polders와 해변을 안전하게 연결하는 역할을 하고 있습니다. 하지만 구조를 자세히 살펴보세요. 겉보기에는 뒤죽박죽인 목재 보의 배열은 우연이 아닙니다. 디자인 회사 West 8은 과거 심한 폭풍 후에 웬두인 해변에 밀려온 난파된 나무에서 영감을 받았습니다. 이 혼란스러운 외관 뒤에는 인상적인 공학 기술이 숨겨져 있습니다. 이 다리에는 30톤 이상의 강철과 약 1,000개의 개별 보가 사용되었습니다. 사용된 아조베 경목은 짠 바닷바람, 강한 해안 바람, 날리는 모래에 강합니다. 과거를 향한 경의를 담은 안전한 횡단로이며 – 절대 놓쳐서는 안 될 볼거리입니다! 😉

Just on the beach you get close to the large harbor.

Place where adventures begin or end. Historical significance: Blankenberge station became a terminus on 1 October 1908. The new station building was put into use in 1937. Over the years, renovations and additions had somewhat affected the architectural value of the building, but it retained its value as a testimony to interbellum architecture. Despite its heritage value, the station was demolished in November 2013. It was replaced by a brand new complex. All this is happening as part of a renovation project for the station area. The new station building was completed in 2018. Two hotels are located above the station. The new Blankenberge station hall is a glass building so that travellers have a view of the Stationsplein from the platforms.

In the 13th century, the historic Grafenkanal was dug to create a direct waterway for trade between Bruges and the coast. This resulted in a unique landscape of dunes and polders. Today, these narrow strips of dunes form a green oasis between the N34 coastal road and the sea. The special mixture of fresh and salt water – known as brackish water – has created a valuable habitat for rare plant and animal species. The De Fonteintjes nature reserve is managed by Natuurpunt and is an important refuge for amphibians, breeding birds, and rare plants.
