This section offers a stunning view of the Hoher Göll – one of the most striking mountains in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The summit, with its massive, often snow-covered north face, towers imposingly above the valley and forms a striking backdrop to the tranquil river landscape along the Salzach. Especially on a clear day, the contrast between the gentle Alpine foothills and the rugged cliffs of the Göll massif is striking. This section is particularly scenic and invites you to pause and marvel at the scenery – ideal for nature lovers and photographers alike.

The pilgrimage church of St. Nicholas in Torren is picturesquely nestled between forest and mountains, not far from the Golling Waterfall. Its origins date back to the 14th century, and it is one of the oldest churches in the region. It is known not only for its spiritual significance, but also for its location: on the edge of the Bluntau Valley, with views of the Tennen Mountains and close to popular cycling trails, it invites you to take a quiet retreat or a short rest. The simple Gothic building with its Baroque furnishings is particularly impressive in its natural setting – a place where history, faith, and landscape come together harmoniously.

A bike detour to the Golling Waterfall is particularly worthwhile for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. Just a few kilometers from the Tauern Cycle Path, a short climb from the center of Golling an der Salzach leads through an idyllic forest landscape directly to the entrance of the waterfall. The Golling Waterfall is one of Salzburg's most impressive natural monuments: The water plunges about 75 meters down over two waterfalls, providing pleasant refreshment on hot days. The path to the edge of the waterfall is well-maintained but can be covered on foot – bikes can be parked at the entrance. This detour offers a pleasant change from the river landscape and can be easily combined with a short stay in the town of Golling, perhaps for a refreshment stop or a visit to the nearby Bluntau Valley. Ideal for a varied bike tour with a nature experience.

The Georgenberg in Kuchl is an impressive natural monument and a striking inselberg in the Salzach Valley, rising prominently from the surrounding landscape. Geologically, it consists of ancient conglomerate rock and was formed around 400,000 years ago by the melting of the Salzach Glacier. Its sheltered location made it a settlement as early as the Neolithic period – traces of Celtic, Roman, and Bavarian cultures have been preserved to this day, as has the Church of St. George, built on the foundations of an early Christian chapel. Today, the Georgenberg is easily accessible via paths and a small road and offers beautiful views as well as stops of natural and historical interest. It has been a nature reserve since 1960 and is also home to a colony of the rare Northern Bald Ibis. Cyclists traveling along the Salzach Cycle Path can include the Georgenberg as a worthwhile detour into their tour – whether for a rest or a cultural stopover.
