The artwork "The Kidnapping of Europa" was installed on Congo Mountain in Vollezele in the summer of 2023. The artist, Koenraad Tinel, has lived in Vollezele for over 25 years and is an honorary citizen of Galmaarden. It is one of his largest artworks, 8 meters long and 9 meters tall. It weighs 2.5 tons and is made of bronze. It depicts Princess Europa sitting on a swimming bull. It is an artwork of hope. Koenraad Tinel continues to believe that a united Europe remains the best guarantee for peace and brotherhood. (VRTnws)

Congo Mountain is 100 meters high. If you leave Vollezele and head to the summit, you'll have to overcome a 62-meter elevation gain. (Wikipedia) The panoramic views along the way are magnificent.

At the marina club, you can enjoy a drink and a small snack, spaghetti, croque monsieur, and more. There's a very pleasant terrace overlooking the canal and the passing boats. Order at the bar with Koen, the owner. Payment can be made in cash or by card.

The Ronquières inclined plane is a unique boat lift. Built in 1968, it allows barges to overcome a drop of nearly 70 meters thanks to a system of sliding trays. The structure can be observed from the cycle path along the canal.
