Rosewall Creek Provincial Park is a small day-use park with a short trail that runs through the forest along Rosewall Creek. Big-leaf maple and conifer stands provide pleasant shade, making this a good stop for a quiet nature walk or creekside break on Vancouver Island. Patricia Bay Park is a quiet waterfront spot in North Saanich with open views of the Saanich Inlet and easy access to the paved Scoter Trail. There are picnic tables, restrooms, and a small beach area, making it a lovely place to stop for lunch or take a break. It’s low-key and family-friendly, perfect for birdwatching, a short walk, or just sitting by the water.

Lions Community Park is a neighborhood park with a parking lot, a playground, picnic tables, benches, a water fountain, and the Lighthouse Community Center. There is also access to the Lighthouse Country Regional Trail.

Qualicum Beach Heritage Forest is 50 acres of old-growth forest with some trees over 500 years in age. The well-marked, mulched trails make for an easy outing.

You can also grab a coffee and take it down to one of the picnic tables along Marine Drive. A great place to look across towards Comox Marina and Goosespit.

Victoria's Inner Harbour stretches from the narrows between Laurel Point and Songhees Point to Johnson Street Bridge. This is where the ferry terminal for connections to Port Angeles in Washington State is located, as well as the marina in front of the Fairmont Empress Hotel and docks for smaller ships and boats. The Johnson Street Bridge spans the waters of Victoria Harbour at a narrow point. The single-leaf bascule bridge opened in March 2018. At night, the bridge is illuminated in blue. This commemorates the original bridge from 1924, which was also called the 'Blue Bridge' because of its light blue color.

The rest of the ride into Courtenay is all downhill once you are past the Inland Highway 19 overpass.
