Trakelweg 쪽의 Ronde van Vlaanderenbrug 다리 머리는 스포츠 장소로 인기가 많습니다. 거의 매일 이곳에서 운동하는 사람들을 볼 수 있습니다 - 개인 코치와 함께이든 아니든. 스포츠 코치이자 EDE Sport and Movement의 소유주인 Edward Houpline은 이 장소를 자주 이용하는 사람으로서, 도시 프로젝트 보조금 'Paint your city'를 활용하여 다리 머리에 색을 입히자는 제안을 제출했습니다. 이를 위해 그는 거리 예술가 LA.KUS(Koksijde) 및 KIEWIE.9000(Gent)과 협력했습니다. 2023년 봄에 완성된 예술 작품은 Leie 강과 스포츠 활동을 향한 경의를 표합니다. 출처: pers.kortrijk.be

In 1920, a new branch of the Leie was excavated in Menen and fitted with locks. In 1990, engineers diverted the course of the Leie again, creating a small island between the old and new riverbeds. It lies on French territory and is now a pleasant park. You can reach it via the bridge over the locks. (See the highlight "Old Leie Branch") The locks' age is evident in their construction materials: not concrete, but individual stones. The 1920 work was intended to make the Leie navigable for boats up to 300 tons – by comparison, the river is now suitable for vessels up to 1,350 tons. The Broel Towers are a protected monument, first dating back to 1386 & 1415 (second tower). They were built to control the traffic on the River Leie. They had to be rebuilt after the first and second world wars

From the clubhouse of the marina you can walk through the woods along the water towards, away from the lock (so towards Leie). There you get a wide view over the water. The stakes are gratefully used by cormorants as places to dry their wings.
