Sleeping in Burgdorf Castle? Yes, it's possible, and you can do so in the youth hostel. It's actually located in the castle itself! The rooms within the old walls have been skillfully designed in a modern style, creating a cozy atmosphere. There are various room sizes (double, family, four-, and six-bed rooms), a restaurant, and as a guest, you can even visit the castle museum for free. Very beautiful old town!

The Krauchtal Valley pleasantly surprised me. There was hardly any traffic, a very good road, and bike paths/lanes in the right places. I had to go through it in both directions.

Like most of the roads in the Bern Mittelland, this one offers a very smooth surface and in the spring time the road is surrounded from the various colors of the flowers and blossoms of the rapeseed, cherry, apple and pear trees. Best time to ride here is in the Spring to take advantage of the colors.

A very smooth asphalted route which offers views of the surrounding area. At this particular sight there is a picnic table which is very inviting to take a pause and just enjoy the landscape.

North of Bern, this part of the Plateau is rugged, without a real pass but never flat. Enough to offer beautiful viewpoints and link up short efforts.

Beautiful stretch of road through the rapeseed fields, with great views over the Aare Valley.
