Lago dei Pini is a man-made body of water nestled in a forest of relict pine trees in the Reggio Emilia Apennines, near Casina. It's a pleasant natural spot for a break during your bike ride, where you can walk along the entire perimeter thanks to the landscaped banks and appreciate the typical vegetation of the area. Nearby, there are tables and green spaces that also make it a good spot for a picnic.

This trail connects Casina and Marola, crossing a quiet, undeveloped hilly stretch. The surface alternates between dirt and natural trails, making it suitable for gravel bikes with generous tires or mountain bikes.

Carpineti is a small town in the Reggio Emilia Apennines, linked to Canossian history. It is recognizable by the ruins of the Carpinete Castle overlooking the town. The village retains a secluded and tranquil layout and is a good starting point for exploring the surrounding hills, including secondary roads, woods, and typical Apennine agricultural landscapes.

Parking lot is easy to reach and from there you have a great view of the rock formation. We also saw all kinds of climbers on the rock. There are also some possibilities to have a drink.

La Pietra is a very suggestive place, it is so particular that you can immediately recognize it even from afar, from its summit you can enjoy a unique view of the surrounding mountains. Climbing up on foot is not difficult following the paths, about 40 minutes from the parking lot below. It is also an important destination for those who practice climbing, both as a gym for beginners and experts. At the base of the mountain there is a hermitage that can be visited, built attached to the rock, but you need to find out if it is open. At La Pietra there are two places near the parking lot where you can stop to eat, a simpler one frequented by climbers and another that is a real restaurant with a beautiful terrace facing south, from which you can see the "Giant".

With a small detour from the Appennino Bike Tour, you can get there via a cycle path. Recommended.
