Crossing point on the Via dei Signori, you cross the Rio della Voluta

The Rio di Gea flows through a wild valley near Castel d'Aiano, creating waterfalls and pools between boulders and rock walls. Its course feeds the Orrido di Gea, a pristine natural environment, characterized by the spontaneous growth of the rare watercress (Nasturtium officinale), known for its nutritional properties. Along the path that goes from Villa d'Aiano to Montese, you can still see the remains of ancient water mills, once fundamental to the local community.

Very pleasant route immersed in the woods, it does not require particular attention.

Strategically located under the steep walls of Mount Cappel Buso, the Mulino della Piastra is an example of adaptation: initially a mill, now a hydroelectric power station that exploits the constant waters of the Dardagna stream. The Little Cassia passes through here.

From the Sanctuary to the first waterfall the route is accessible to everyone and is truly beautiful, all in the woods! It does not present any difficult passages... the waterfall reached is a spectacle! I highly recommend this route 🏞️💙
