As the oldest known pharmacist in Obermoschel, Franz Höfer ran his business from 1822 to 1832. He came from Gaugrehweiler and is said to have been the founder of the pharmacy in Obermoschel, which was one of the first, if not the first, pharmacy in the northern Palatinate. The property of today's Amts-Apotheke was purchased by a Friedrich Lotz on November 7, 1840 and the pharmacy building was built. On October 5, 1847, the pharmacist Friedrich Diehl from Winnweiler purchased the pharmacy in Obermoschel from the Lotz couple for 18,500 guilders. He ran the pharmacy until his death in 1888. He was also the one who added a "newer" laboratory in the pharmacy courtyard in 1859. In 1889, the pharmacist Johann David Erlenbach became the owner of the pharmacy in Obermoschel. He introduced the name "Amts-Apotheke" at the turn of the 20th century. The reason was probably the relocation of the district court and the tax office to the property opposite the pharmacy. The authorities did not immediately accept the name - on the grounds that a pharmacy is not an official institution. At some point, however, they seem to have come to terms with it, because the name stuck. The building was structurally redesigned in 1934. On the left side of the tower, a staircase leads to the battlement. The tower keeper lived on the top floor and had to watch over the peace of the city. If guests wanted to enter at night, he had to call the mayor, because only in his presence was he allowed to lower the drawbridge and open the small entrance gate. Keym look You have climbed 53 of 10b steps so far. Now you can take a breather and enjoy the Keym view. Here you are standing on an approximately 80 m high rock, which was largely created by the sliding of rock masses. The Glan, as innocent as he seems from up here, played a part in this. The last major rockfall occurred in 2005. The path below the rock had to be closed forever. Many have that Meisenheimer is very sorry. That's why the former mayor Werner Keym had this viewing point built as compensation, so to speak. Now everyone can at least enjoy the beautiful view from here. The rock is something special, which is why it was placed under nature protection in 1992. These are rocks from the Jeckenbacher layers of the Unterrotlegen, which were formed around 296-292 Mill. The layers consist of alternating layers of sandstone, siltstone and mudstone. Rare fossils have been found in some rock layers, such as the prehistoric shark Xenacanthus Meisenheimensis, which is now exhibited in the GEOSKOP environmental museum at Lichtenberg Castle near Kusel.
