This beautiful little river is definitely worth a detour. In an arid land like this in the Syracuse area, even a seemingly harmless river can be a source of beauty. The river flows in a protected area and is ideal for a refreshing dip. Next to it is an orange grove that is perhaps abandoned but still unattended. An orange on the riverbank with your legs in the water is definitely worth it!

If you are in for an adventurous variation of this climb, you may continue further into the valley, past the entrance to the nature reserve, on a very narrow tarmac road. The climb becomes steep and ends right below the Cappuccino convent in Sortino.
