Don't miss, if you're in the Bosco Quarto, with its hornbeams and beech trees, the Ragusa Valley, formed by one of the numerous east-west oriented tectonic fissures that mark the Gargano promontory between the Umbra Forest and the area of San Marco in Lamis. It's very easy to cycle through and can be reached by anyone with a basic understanding of cartography and navigation, yet the impression is of being immersed in an environment profoundly removed from any human presence. On the southern slope, near Coppa del Giglio and Casa Natura, runs what was the line of a Decauville a century ago.

Leave the dolina on the right and continue straight ahead. Nice path in the middle of the Gargano promontory, rocky but easy to ride. Wonderful view of Monte Calvo. Close the rudimentary gates on the way.

The dolina is typical of the Gargano due to its karstic structure. There are several throughout the Gargano. In some cases they can conceal caves.

After a challenging descent among the rocks (be careful) you arrive near Piscina Pantolfe, where you necessarily have to decide which direction to take: to the right towards Grotta San Michele of Monte Sant'Angelo left towards Grotta San Michele in Cagnano Varano.

Beech trees are soldiers in gray, stiff uniforms. Good soldiers, who bring joy and instill a great sense of peace and depth. Due to significant temperature inversions, they often grow along the bottoms of Gargano valleys and vines, alongside Turkey oaks, even at very low altitudes, such as 270 meters above sea level in the Canalon' d' li Felicar' near Carpino. Ragusa Valley, nestled in the Bosco Quarto between Coppa del Giglio and Coppa La Monaca, corresponds to one of the many east-west oriented tectonic fissures that characterize this central part of the Gargano promontory.
