Pretty town in the upper Salento of very ancient times (the Messapi were the people who preceded the Romanization). Characteristic for its narrow alleys that climb up to the center and for the white color of the lime walls. It is also worth a stop to visit the Castle, the medieval village and the churches (especially that of S. Anna). Not to be missed, scattered around Ceglie and in Salento, are also the "specchie", large mounds of limestone slabs which in the Neolithic age perhaps served as defense or watchtowers

Ceglie Messapica is one of the oldest municipalities in the region, located in the heart of the Itria Valley. To see: Montevicoli cave; cave of San Michele; Ducal Castle; Collegiate mother church of Santa Maria Assunta; Church of San Rocco.

The Ulmo pine forest is a forest of Aleppo pines and Mediterranean scrub located between Ceglie Messapica and Villa Castelli, in the Itria Valley. The pine forest hosts a picnic area equipped with tables and benches, and a fountain where you can take a refreshing break. The pine forest is part of the Apulian Aqueduct Cycle Path, a cycling and hiking route that follows the route of the pipelines that bring water from Campania to Puglia.

The Apulian Aqueduct Cycle Path is a project of sustainable tourism and enhancement of the history and culture of the region. Between Villa Castelli and Ceglie Messapica, the cycle path is part of the Sentiero Italia, a national itinerary that crosses the different regions of the country. The result is a cycling and hiking route along which you can admire the rural landscapes and monuments of Puglia, such as the trulli and churches.

Piazza Plebiscito is the central square of Ceglie Messapica which opens at the entrance to the ancient village. It is dominated by the Clock Tower, a 19th-century neoclassical building that is the symbol of the city. The Palazzo Ducale, seat of the town hall, and the Church of San Domenico, with its Baroque facade, also overlook the square.
