Tschiertschen was voted the most beautiful mountain village in Graubünden following an appeal by the tourism association. On the one hand it is beautifully rustic, just as you would imagine, but on the other hand it is lively - and not just with tourists. In addition to pretty houses, there is a village shop and a cultural center. In summer, Tschiertschen is a great starting point for hikes and bike tours, and in winter there is a small but nice ski area.

Has everything, can do everything: the village shop in Tschiertschen. There's coffee, Kägi Frett, pretzel sticks, a smile from the cashier, a chat with the villagers - and a fountain with cool water and a bench next to it right in front of the shop.

The church is at the end of a chain of old Walser houses on a hill. However, this magnificent ensemble has been disfigured in recent decades by new buildings in the hollow below this building arrangement. The mountain village, which now seems a bit morbid, missed a great opportunity in the 1980s.

Coffee? snack? Kaegi Frett? A little chat with the residents of Tschiertschen? Everything is available in the Primo village shop. Plus: fresh well water directly in front of the store and a shady bench.

Tschiertschen-Praden Originally, the place mentioned as Cercene in the 8th century was inhabited by Romans, which is still remembered by many field names today. The property of the Churwalden monastery, documented since 1222, established its affiliation with the Strassberg dominion, and later with the Churwalden court of the League of Ten Courts. Around 1530, Tschiertschen joined the Reformation; At the end of the 16th century there was a transition from Romansh to German. Praden, mentioned in 1157 as Pradis (name from Latin pratum, "meadow"), was permanently settled around 1300 by Walser people from Langwies. Consequently, Praden belonged in the Three Leagues as a neighborhood to the Langwies court of the League of Ten Courts and only came to the district of Churwalden in 1851, when today's districts were created. Wooden houses in the Walser building tradition characterize the compact village center of Tschiertschen. Typical are the artistically painted house sayings on almost all older houses under the respective roof gable, almost all of which are taken from the Bible. The Reformed Church is a Gothic building from the 15th century. Text/Source: Wikipedia https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tschiertschen-Praden

Mountain restaurant chicken heads The mountain restaurant chicken heads and its area have a lot to offer in summer. At almost 2000 m above sea level, everything is a bit different than what you are used to. In addition to fields full of alpine roses, stunning views and the friendliness of the mountain people, the silence and purity of nature ensure this. Reformed Church Tschiertschen The church from the 14th century is a defining part of the historic village center. The church from the 14th century is located in the middle of Tschiertschen and is an important part of the historic village center. The church of Tschiertschen houses special gems: the precious organ and wall paintings from the 15th century. The organ in the Tschiertschen church is one of the last and also largest of the so-called Toggenburg house organs. There are two angels on the organ, which were probably added by a local carver and are popularly known as "bad pants angels". The wall paintings date from the 15th century, when the church was built. These wall paintings were only uncovered during renovation work in 2012. Text / Source: Tschiertschen-Praden community center https://www.tschiertschen.ch/de/kirche-tschiertschen
