At the beginning of February, I chose the western ascent; it's challenging, steep, occasionally (icy) slippery, lonely, and not easy (especially the meadow crossings – a difficult chapter in themselves)...but it's definitely worth all the effort....(Tip: the cable car also brings tired hikers down very comfortably – though not cheaply!).

A beautiful loop around Lake Haldensee in the Tannheimer Valley. Lake Haldensee is a 73-hectare lake located at an altitude of 1,124 m above sea level* in the Tannheimer Valley between Grän and Nesselwängle in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Near the western shore lies the village of Haldensee (in the municipality of Grän), and at the northeastern end lies the village of Haller, which belongs to the municipality of Nesselwängle. The Tannheimer Road (B 199) runs along the northern shore. * A = Adriatic Sea

Located at 1,405 meters, the Edenbachalm is an authentic Tyrolean mountain hut, open from May to October. The Edenbachalm can be reached in about an hour on foot from the idyllically situated Haldensee.

From here you have a beautiful view!
