Lago di Livigno The Lago di Livigno is a reservoir that lies largely in Italy and only a small part in the north on Swiss soil. This part of the lake is located in the Graubünden municipality of Zernez. The reservoir lies at an altitude of 1805 meters above sea level and is around nine kilometers long. The Luwinersee, as it is called in German, is fed by various mountain streams, including the Torrente Federia, the Acqua del Gallo and the Spöl. After the arch dam, the Spöl flows through the Swiss National Park towards Zernez and feeds the Lai da Ova Spin on its way. A covered car park is being built in the area in front of the Mottolino structure. It's impressive how works are completed here in record time.

The Spöl stream, called Aqua Granda by the people of Livigno, does not belong to the Mediterranean basin although it flows in Italian territory, but is part of the Danube basin. At the end of its course, it flows into the Inn River, a tributary of the Danube, in Switzerland. This detail means that, through the stipulation of an international treaty, Italian boats have the right to navigate in the Danube and therefore in the Black Sea, where the Danube itself enters.

The Livigno cycle/pedestrian path is 17 km long and crosses the entire valley, skirting the town center on one side and the Spöl river on the other.

The most famous restaurant in Livigno offers the typical cured meats of the area and the cheeses they produce. You can also find Livigno beer. The ideal place for a stopover.

The new Mottolino structure hosts an infrastructure dedicated to both winter sports and bikes for different specialties, including Downhill. Inside there is an excellent bar/restaurant and a shop with different sports equipment. The rental includes top of the range equipment.
