A wonderful stop. Both the church and the baptistery were open, and we were able to enter for a visit. It's worth a detour if you're in the area.

The spectacular Romanesque complex of Vigolo Marchese consists of the church of San Giovanni Battista, founded in 1008, and the beautiful circular baptistery, even older. There is also the tower, originally defensive then transformed into a bell tower: a unicum of extraordinary historical importance and poignant beauty. Unmissable.
