Monheim's elongated market square reveals that the important trade route between Nuremberg and Augsburg once ran through here. The square is framed by historic city gates, which were built around 1340 along with the city wall. The carefully restored buildings of the old town recall a time when Monheim boasted numerous inns, horse-changing stations, and breweries. The town hall is also among the most striking buildings in the town center.

The Fugger House in Donauwörth, a town in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries in Bavaria, was built in the 16th century. The building at Heilig-Kreuz-Straße 1/Pflegstraße 2 is a listed historical monument. In 1536, Anton Fugger (the new lord of the Imperial Bailiwick of Wörth) purchased the house that had been the residence of the imperial bailiff and, starting in 1537, commissioned the construction of a prestigious new building on the site. The plans were drawn up by the master builder Quirin Knoll. Due to war damage, the building had to be restored after 1945. The district administration office of the Donau-Ries district has been located in the building for some time. The two-story Renaissance building with high, crenellated gables features a vaulted vestibule with a staircase on the ground floor. The upper floor has a portal jamb dated 1539. The current building dates from the late Gothic period; the north portal of the church bears the date 1509. The interior, however, is in the Baroque style. The vault was constructed in its present form in 1596. The monastery was dissolved by the Protestant ruler (Monheim had belonged to the newly formed Principality of Palatinate-Neuburg since 1506). The pilgrimage ceased. Remnants of the monastery can still be found in the present-day St. Walburg House and in the cloister. The church tower was completed in 1575. A beautiful bike path from Donauwörth to Kaisheim. It rolled through the countryside, away from traffic. The asphalt was of good quality.

Neuburg an der Donau is a large district town and the seat of the district administration of the Upper Bavarian district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen. For centuries, Neuburg was the royal residence of the Duchy of Palatinate-Neuburg, a fact reflected in its architecture to this day.
