A very small but very cute village

The (small) Chiesina was founded in the 1960s 🥰

The villa, with a rectangular floor plan and three floors above ground, dates back to the end of the 18th century and still features valuable original elements, such as the old courtyard with its surrounding wall, the entrance gate and, above all, a monumental arch across the access road.

The church was consecrated in the late 1960s by Archbishop Castellano and dedicated to Saint Ansano, the patron saint of Siena.

The Palazzo dei Diavoli is an old stone house and an interesting and underrated place. Born in 1300, enlarged in 1400. The name "Palazzo dei Diavoli" comes from legends and superstitions of the peasants of the time. Despite its name, it housed a hospital for pilgrims from the Francigena 😉 and was attached to the Renaissance church of S. Maria degli Angeli.

Actually, it is the Villa Sergardi (17th century) with the Torre Fiorentino! Anna Sergardi Biringucci wants to protect the people in the family villa, which was once an outpost outside the city walls of Siena to stop the raids of the Florentine Guelphs. The villa was rebuilt in the nineteenth century, with a Gothic tower, which was the prevailing fashion in architecture at the time, and hosted - then in the countryside - the famous German composer Richard Wagner, who completed the composition of Parsifal (Wagner's 8th and last opera) there.

The name of the place derives from the words Duo Pini (two pine trees), which stood in front of the church of Erasmo e Marcellino, built in the 11th century.
