The view around Mount Quarin is truly rewarding, and more than makes up for the effort of climbing the mountain.

The castle of Mount Quarin which is nothing other than a defensive bastion of Lombard origin from 610 AD. It is assumed that already in Roman times this hill was a strategic point of defense.

https://www.komoot.com/it-it/tour/704903334 TYPE – Loop LENGTH – 4.59 km ELEVATION GAIN – 54 m DIFFICULTY – Very Easy (IBP = 17) The northern entrance to the park can be reached by taking the SR356 Cividale-Cormons road. At Spessa, turn left following the signs for the forest. Staying on the main road, you'll soon see the large parking lot on the right, the starting point of the route. The proposed itinerary closely follows the one suggested in the book "In Natura nel Friuli Venezia Giulia" by A. Candolini, which allows you to visit the most popular areas of the forest, those equipped for games, picnics, and swimming, as well as discovering the less frequented corners, the quieter ones, yet still easily accessible to all. From the innermost parking lot, we immediately follow the highest road on the left, and shortly after, we reach the Visitor Center and the area equipped with games, tables, benches, and restrooms. This is the most popular and popular area with families. We leave here following the road that rises slightly to the left, and immediately after a couple of gentle hairpin bends, we reach the northern edge of the forest. The tall, thick vegetation always provides shade along the way. At a wide open space, we leave the road coming from the entrance to Craoretto on the left, continuing on a now flat stretch, which we maintain further ahead, as we approach a road descending on the right, leading to the Visitor Center. After a wide left curve, at a fork, we keep left, leading to the eastern edge of the forest. The road ends shortly after, but on the right and slightly uphill, we follow a beautiful dirt path. Eventually, this trail takes us back to a dirt road at the eastern edge of the forest, and to the left, the lack of trees offers a view of the vineyard-covered hills. We follow the road south, being careful to re-enter the forest via a turnoff to the right. Once back on the main road, after a wide bend to the left, we're already in the lower part of the forest. On the right, we take the access road back along a path equipped with small exercise facilities and games. We've now reached the Visitor Center, and from here, it's a quick walk to the parking lot. 11.07.2020 BIBLIOGRAPHY "In Natura nel Friuli Venezia Giulia" by A. Candolini – ed. CO.EL.
