Building kept in perfect condition.

Built before the year 1000 and often referred to in the Middle Ages as "San Giorgio de Prats" for the meadows surrounding it, it was the parish of many villages in the area, now no longer in existence. It marks an ancient center of religious life along the Via Julia Augusta and was likely founded by the Benedictines. In 1616, when the parish of the nearby town of Campochiesa was established, the Church of San Giorgio was gradually abandoned. The Church of San Giorgio preserves a precious cycle of frescoes dating from the 13th to the 16th centuries, which testify to the development and decline of the building and the entire surrounding area. The paintings on the walls, in the Church's intention, serve an educational purpose: to educate and strengthen the faithful who contemplate them in the Christian faith. The Last Judgement, the figures of the Saints, or scenes from the history of salvation and the life of the Virgin Mary are equally reminders of the realities of faith so that it can be lived in everyday life.

Spectacular spot on the Ligurian coast.

After passing Bardineto, a long and splendid descent begins, offering breathtaking views of Loano and its coast. Be careful, though, as the road is very narrow in places, barely allowing one car to pass at a time, and it has several potholes. Therefore, despite the temptation, you shouldn't descend too quickly.

The Toirano Caves are a complex of karst caves located in the Savona hinterland, one of the most important speleological and archaeological sites in Italy. The tourist route winds primarily through two connected caves: the Bàsura Cave and the Santa Lucia Superiore Cave. The Bàsura Cave, also known as the "Witches' Cave," is famous for its prehistoric finds. Neanderthal footprints and a vast "cemetery" of cave bears, who hibernated there, have been discovered here. The Santa Lucia Superiore Cave captivates visitors with its geological beauty, rich in stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and other rock formations. The Toirano Caves thus offer a fascinating journey through time, combining the wonder of underground nature with evidence of prehistoric life.

The historic center of Toirano is a labyrinth of cobbled alleys and stone stairways winding between stone houses. Its medieval origins are evident in its structure and materials. Strolling through its narrow streets, you can admire arches, doorways, and remains of the ancient walls surrounding the village. The heart of the town is the Church of San Martino di Tours, which dates back to the 13th century, although it has been remodeled over time. Another attraction is the Clock Tower, once part of the village's defense system.

This spot offers a wonderful view over Loano and the Mediterranean Sea.

A beautiful gravel trail that's fun to ride. The beginning (about 300 meters) is more suitable for experienced mountain bikers, however. Inexperienced or unsteady riders should push their bikes.
