The 360° panorama repays the effort

Beautiful panoramic views, stretching from Istria to the Carnic Alps, at least on a clear day. To the east, the Pleša, considered the southernmost mountain in the Eastern Alps, is clearly visible.

Partial segment of Napoleonica that connects the Piazzale dell'Obelisco di Opicina, its traditional starting point, to the branch of the paths for Monte Gurca or for the Strada del Friuli. The origin of the names is linked to both historical foundations and local tradition. According to an ancient legend, it seems that it was the passage of Napoleon's troops that inaugurated this road; the other name, Strada Vicentina, from the engineer Giacomo Vicentini who designed the route, is more well-founded. The entire route, about 5 km long, actually continues to the Borgo San Nazario car park, near Prosecco. It winds along a wide path 350 m above sea level, with wonderful views of the Gulf of Trieste, the Faro della Vittoria, the Miramare Castle and the city, without giving up enjoying the karst territory and its varied vegetation.
