Monte Canin is a peak in the Julian Alps 2587 meters high and located on the border between Italy and Slovenia. To reach the top you need experience, attention and adequate equipment, because there are equipped and exposed sections. It is characterized by a karst landscape, with caves, large basins and snowfields. The most popular itinerary is the one that starts from Rifugio Gilberti.

The Brigata Julia via ferrata is the itinerary that climbs the north face of Mount Canin, starting from the residual glacier. It was built by the Alpine troops in 1962-63 and recently renovated. The via ferrata has sections of moderate difficulty and must be tackled with experience, attention and adequate equipment. It offers a spectacular view of the Julian Alps and Mount Forato.
