The Church of Santa Croce in Alassio, located on a panoramic hill, was built in the 11th century by Benedictine monks from Gallinara Island in Romanesque style. Characterized by its original apse and a 16th-century portico, the structure lay in ruins for centuries before being restored between the 1950s and 1970s.

Piazza San Michele is a beautiful square and the heart of the town. Here stands the town hall, an imposing building, as well as the Palazzo Peloso Cepolla from the early Renaissance period, with a corner tower dating from the 13th century.

From this panoramic point you can dominate Albenga. A breathtaking view that embraces the medieval historical center and the Ligurian coast, framed by the sea and the surrounding vegetation.

The church is located on the ancient Roman road Via Iulia Augusta between Albenga and Alassio. It was built in the 11th century by Benedictine monks from the nearby island of Gallinara. The stone building was built on the rock in the Romanesque style. Most of the original walls are still preserved. The upper part of the apse has a pointed arch opening made of bricks of the fourteenth or fifteenth century. The portico dates from the sixteenth century.
