Above the stable building, there's a wooden hut with a refrigerator selling alpine cheese and drinks. Combined with the view, it's a real hit!

After Chalberweid, the mountain roads leading even higher are dead ends. So it's time to enjoy the view once more before heading downhill a little further ahead.

Both Ried itself and the church are well worth seeing. Together with the cemetery, it forms a beautiful picture at the upper end of the hamlet. The organ, which is still used during services, dates back to 1778, and the church and tower date back to the 9th and 15th centuries, respectively. A quick look inside the church is also worthwhile – open during the day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Chemistube mountain restaurant is located on the eastern slope of the Rinderberg, a good 350 meters above the Simmental valley floor. With a beautiful view of the Upper Simmental, you can stop by and recharge with delicious, lovingly prepared dishes or relax with a cool drink. Please note that credit and debit cards are not accepted. In summer 2025, operations will begin on Pentecost (June 8).
