The small church with Gothic lines stands along the ancient road that connects Cadore with the Monte Croce Comelico Pass. It is located about 1.5 km from the town of Padola. The church was rebuilt with funds from the Rule of Padola between 1693 and 1699 by M. Antonio and G. B. Sacchi. It was blessed on 26 July 1699. The plan has two octagons, one of which serves as an apse, with the sacristy behind it. Gothic is mixed with Renaissance and Baroque. The only altar is made of pine wood, carved and gilded, sumptuous; the altarpiece, with Sant'Anna, Maria Bambina, and, above, the SS. Trinity, executed by Stefano Dorigo Piccolo, son of Antonio, as confirmed by the wording on the back of the altarpiece: 1732 Antonio Dorigo Piccolo gilded the present Palla / 1755 Steffano his son painted the present painting. Other documents attest to payments to Steffano for the Pittura nova of S.Anna in 1766.

The pass of Monte Croce di Comelico is located at an altitude of 1,636 meters and connects the Comelico, Veneto, with the Val Pusteria, Alto Adige. From the pass it is possible to admire the Sesto Dolomites and the Carnic Alps.

The climb that leads to Passo Monte Croce di Comelico starts from the village of Santo Stefano di Cadore, has a length of 21 km and an average gradient of 3.5%, not a very demanding climb therefore.. But it is certainly a climb that offers wonderful views to anyone who travels it.

Beautiful place, unfortunately always very crowded, because it is the starting point for excursions, cycling and for the magnificent view of the Three Peaks.

The Dürrensee in the foreground of Monte Cristallo is a wonderful photo motif. The lake is a beautiful resting place, and the restaurants across the street are highly recommended. You can also sit very well on the terrace with a view of the lake and mountains.
