The Großjenaer Blütengrund takes its name from the fruit tree blossoms that can be observed in spring. A large part of the area where the fruit trees grow or grew is a natural floodplain of the Saale and Unstrut rivers. The vineyards are located on the northern edge of the lowland. It is a striking ridge that begins with the so-called Klingerweinberg.

Early on Sunday mornings, you can quietly ride your racing bike here. Later, when the weather is nice, it gets as crowded as the Autobahn.

The landscape slowly begins to look more natural – including wine growing

The water has a strange taste and is lukewarm. This doesn't improve if you tap a few liters and throw them away. I suspect that the supply line is not buried deep enough or that the tap allows the water to be heated. Legionella bacteria form at temperatures above 20 degrees and that's why I'm going to avoid the tap. There is a cemetery at the entrance to Haardorf. You're better off with fresh drinking water there. Everyone should think for themselves whether they want to tap from the blue column.

It has been beautifully restored. Not quite finished yet. There is a drinking water supply right on the path. It invites you to stop for a moment and fill up your reserves.

Actually a very nice cycle path. In the middle of nature, away from cars. But unfortunately it is in a very poor state of maintenance. In some places there are a lot of trees lying on the path. I can't even imagine what it looks like in autumn (can you no longer see the path?) And a lot of it is overgrown. Near Zeitz the maintenance is much better. Riding there is really fun.

Suitable for racing bikes throughout, but very dirty and narrow in the wooded areas. But doable.
