The weir in Scheibbs on the Erlauf River was built in 1822 and originally served to harness the river's water power for Andreas Töpper's iron and sheet metal works. It was a crucial component of the town's industrial development, making the Erlauf's natural energy technically usable. In 1959, the weir was modernized to continue providing water power for turbines and industrial purposes. Today, it stands as a testament to the historical use of river energy in Scheibbs and is a significant engineering structure in the region.
