By February 2026, the diabase lake has almost completely disappeared and the entire mining area is cordoned off. Access to the lake is no longer possible.

It's a beautiful path toward the Perft Reservoir. It's well-traveled in good weather. Unfortunately, it's very close to the main road in some places.

In 1909, construction began on the railway line from Wallau to Oberscheld. To create the embankment, the Perf was rerouted above and below the village. The official inauguration took place on May 1, 1911, with a decorated special train. Due to the steep gradients in the Gansbach Valley and Schelderwald, special locomotives called "Grinsches Lies'che" were used. Later, rail buses and diesel locomotives were used. After rail service ceased, the tracks were dismantled and sold to Italy, where they are still in service today. The embankment is now part of the Perf Reservoir - Aartalsee long-distance cycle path.
