12월 9, 2022, Piazza Castello, Sassari
It takes its name from the Aragonese Castle that stood in this area since 1300. In 1877 the castle was demolished and the space thus freed gave life to the square as we see it today in front of the contemporary La Marmora barracks. In 1800 the square was the favorite spot for elegant walks and on holidays the music band played there. It became therefore the soul and the heart of the city. When Sassari then expanded, the ideal city center moved from Piazza Castello to the new great Piazza d’Italia. In the 1950s, the demolition of some low buildings and the construction of two skyscrapers further modified the square. More recently, the numerous palm trees that shaded the square have been eliminated, because they were hit by the red weevil, a dangerous parasite that attacks especially this type of trees. Under the square runs an archaeological path between the walkways and some underground rooms that had belonged to the Castle. The entrance is from a low glass block structure. The visit is really worth it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tCMyZJPIIk

10월 1, 2022, Palazzo Manca di Usini
This important building, which at the time of its construction was undoubtedly the most magnificent in the city, was on top of a building that probably belonged to the same owner, Don Giacomo Manca, lord of Mores, progenitor of the Counts of San Giorgio. It was built in 1577, as indicated by the inscription on the architrave of the door, next to the ancient prisons of San Leonardo, possibly dating from the 15th century, traces of which still remain. 10월 1, 2022, Statue of Pasquale Tola
Pasquale Tola (November 30, 1800 in Sassari – August 25, 1874 in Genoa) was an Italian judge, politician and historian. Coming from an ancient and noble Sardinian family, he studied in Sassari, where he obtained a degree in theology and law and followed courses in philosophy and fine arts. In 1848 he was part of the ministerial working group in Sardinia. He advocated the abolition of feudalism in Sardinia. He wrote many works on historical-political subjects, especially on Sardinia, and there is extensive literary coverage of him. Tola was also an encyclopedist and wrote a dictionary of Sardinian biography in 1837-38. He was then Chancellor of the University of Sassari. He later worked in the judiciary at the Courts of Appeal in Nice and Genoa. He was a member of the Sardinian Parliament in Turin from 1848 and then of the national one. In Sassari, the Piazza Tola in the historic center is named after him. Source: https://de.wikibrief.org/wiki/Pasquale_Tola

The Scala (staircase) di Giocca indicates the stretch of the old access to Sassari from the route SS131 " Carlo Felice ". Scala in Sardinian language also assumes the meaning of a steep and difficult access road, while Giocca means snail, probably referring to the slow and tortuous turns imposed by the climb). The 3 km long road climbs from 132 to 312 m above sea level on six narrow hairpin bends obtained along a large edge dominated by sheer limestone walls, so that it was called "the little Moncenisio". The climb was even more demanding in the past, when it was the only access route to Sassari and the road was stony: arriving from the Logudoro subregion with their loaded wagons, the peasants had to unload half of it at the beginning; then, after having deposited the other half on top, they had to go down again and repeat the operation. Today its winding curves are the fun of motorcyclists and (downhill) cyclists; moreover, in June there is the "Scala di Giocca - Osilo", the oldest car race in Sardinia: vintage cars and motorbikes start from Sassari and the Scala di Giocca, touch various villages in the surrounding area, including Osilo, before returning to Sassari for the award ceremony.

Palazzo Ducale is a historic palace in Sassari built in the second half of the eighteenth century. Today it is the seat of the municipal administration. The building was built in the period between 1775 and 1805 - by Lombard workers directed by the Piedmontese architect Carlo Valino - at the behest of Don Antonio Manca Amat, nephew of Diego to whom he owed the title of Marquis of Mores and who in 1775 had fief of the island of Asinara and the title of duke. However, he died a few months before seeing the building completed so that the first to settle there was his nephew, Don Vincenzo Manca Amat, Duke of Vallombrosa [1]. After him it was inhabited by other private individuals, then it was occupied by the Prefecture, later by the provincial administration and finally, in 1878, by the municipality of Sassari which took it over to the municipal patrimony. From a social point of view, the construction of the new Doge's Palace expressed the need to strengthen the predominant role of the family towards the new emerging classes and in particular the "colony" of Genoese merchants who controlled the trade in food and livestock and which therefore it represented a fundamental and fearful element of the Sassari economy.
