Roccia dell'Elefante / Elephant Rock (Trachyte Rock) Unique rock formation resembling a sitting elephant with ancient graves. The Roccia dell'Elefante is located east of Castelsardo on a side road. It is a trachyte rock that has been shaped into an elephant by erosion. Great stairs, beautiful place!

Great stopping point. You can continue driving down the forbidden road though

Compared to the pretty historic center of Castelsardo, this square somehow seems too modern and cool. But if you want to go up to the old town, there is almost no way around it.

The colorful staircase leads directly to the historic center of Castelsardo.

The view is simply stunning, thanks to the contrast of colors between the very white sand and the two extensions of blue, that of the river and the sea. San Pietro beach is a long and wide stretch of soft, golden sand, which extends from the west, from La Ciaccia, to the mouth of the Coghinas river in the east, passing near the small church and settlement of San Pietro a Mare. It's great to swim alternating between the sea and the river.
