The climb to Prati di Tivo is one of the most famous climbs in the Abruzzo Apennines, located at the foot of the Gran Sasso massif. It measures about 14 kilometers with over 1000 meters of elevation gain. The gradients are constant, with many hairpin bends and some steeper sections. It is a classic stage finish of the Giro d'Italia.

The weather can change quickly up here. When I was here in early May, it suddenly rained and the temperature dropped to 2°C.

Near the beautiful church of Altavilla there is a small fountain where you can fill your water bottles.

Entrance to the ancient stone mill Nardi (also known as the Cervaro mill), along the Zingano stream. The mill was built at the beginning of the 19th century
