After his canonization in 1729, St. Nepomuk became one of the most popular saints in Austria; he also became the patron saint of the Diocese of Seckau. According to legend, Canon John of Nepomuk was Queen Joanna's confessor. The king wanted to learn from him what sins she had confessed. Because the priest did not violate the seal of confession despite severe mistreatment, King Wenceslas had him thrown from the Prague Bridge into the Vltava River, where he died. The saint is considered the patron saint of bridges.

Nepomuk is a saint who is particularly venerated as a bridge saint. A beautiful wayside shrine.

This chapel, called the "Lawyer's Cross," is a reference to a lawyer from the Seckau Abbey and was built around 1793. It was consecrated in 1896 after renovations. A late Gothic statue of the Virgin Mary and Child and a wrought-iron grille adorn the chapel. The recurring motif of flaming hearts suggests that the chapel is dedicated to the "Sacred Heart."
