Montegabbione is a characteristic Umbrian village. Its origins date back to around the 11th century. Over time, it belonged to various powerful local families until it became part of the Papal States.

The access is located in the Castiglione - Borghetto section, on the lakeside of Castiglione, near the Guardia di Finanza dog training center. It is ideal for those coming from the center of the village or from the Pozzuolo area. Free parking and refreshment points are available nearby.

The Rocca del Leone is the medieval fortress with an irregular pentagonal structure built starting from the thirteenth century. This is the main monument of Castiglione del Lago and is definitely worth a visit.
