Wonderful centuries-old monumental tree. I had heard about it for years and finally stopped. Located at the traffic light intersection at the beginning of the town, it is not very tall in relation to the impressive width of the trunk. It seems that the circumference at the base is 15 meters. Beautiful and majestic, shame about the somewhat unfortunate location...

The Platano dei Cento Bersaglieri is a monumental tree located in the center of the Platano area, a hamlet of Caprino Veronese. It dates back to the year 1370 and is currently the largest plane tree in Italy with a height of over 25 metres, a circumference of around 15 and a crown surface of 300 metres. It has gone down in history as the Plane Tree of the Hundred Bersaglieri as it is said that in 1937 during the Great Summer Maneuvers of the Italian Army an entire company of one hundred Bersaglieri hid among its branches and in its cavities. It also seems that in the winter of 1944 the German troops decided to thin it out, for fear that the Partisans could set ambushes on it.
