In keeping with his significance in European historiography, the monument to Alexander of Macedon—early honored with the nickname THE GREAT—must be impressive in its sheer size, which naturally dominates the entire square. High above the city's visitors, he sits in a fighting pose on his rearing horse, depicted as a successful general, his naked sword raised in his hand against the (imaginary) enemy.

Here in Skopje, the original home of "Mother Teresa," where she was born in 1910, the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, who worked for many years in India, is honored. Climb from Katlanovo towards Mladov reservoir. The climb is well paved for the first two thirds and then becomes a gravel path for about 2km. The descent is again well paved.

The arch is 21 metres high and cost 4.4 million euros. Its author is Valentina Stevanovska, a sculptor who created several other grandiose monuments as part of the Skopje 2014 project, including the statue dedicated to Alexander the Great, officially called "Warrior on a Horse". During the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski admitted that he was personally the initiator of the Skopje 2014 plan.

The Stone Bridge of Skopje (Macedonian: Камен Мост Kamen Most, Albanian: Ura e Gurit, Turkish: Taşköprü) is a landmark of the capital of North Macedonia. It crosses the Vardar and once connected the two halves of the old town. The stone bridge is depicted on the city coat of arms of Skopje.

The statue of the Macedonian king Alexander the Great, or Alexander III of Macedon as he is more correctly known, is 14.5 meters high, made of bronze, and mounted on a 10-meter-high concrete base. This gives it a total height of 24.5 meters. There is a fountain beneath the monument, and the concrete base of the statue itself is part of the fountain, complete with water features and lighting. Around the base in the center of the fountain are eight three-meter-high bronze soldiers.
