Capo Murro di Porco Lighthouse (Faro di Capo Murro di Porco) on the Maddalena Peninsula near Syracuse, Sicily. Frederick II of Hohenstaufen built it in 1240 to provide the best possible protection for the entrance to the harbor of Syracuse. The Castello Maniace was both a fortress and a royal palace.
