It is not an exaggeration to say that Isola dei Pescatori is the most idyllic of all the Borromean Islands. The island, also known as Isola Superiore, enchants with the unique floor plan of an ancient, rustic village, which the signs of the times had little effect on. The sight of the pointed bell tower that towers over the red roofs is striking. Houses with their low arbors face Lake Maggiore. And on the shore, numerous ships sway gently in the waves of Lake Maggiore.
The history of Isola dei Pescatori goes back many centuries. People lived on the island more than 700 years ago. To this day there are more or less quieter days on the island. When locals and non-residents celebrate the Ferragosto festival, the statue of the patron saint is carried around the entire island on a boat. This festival is celebrated every year on August 15th. On the eve of this festival, the night is greeted with fireworks on the coda. Another event is the Epiphany. When the "Carga Vegia" festival is celebrated, local children enjoy their grand entrance. The boys and girls run all over the island to pull a rope behind them. Scarfs, hats, milk and rattling objects are attached to this rope. There is also a lot of activity on the island when the weekly market is held. Local handicraft products are sold at this event. This market is an occasion for numerous tourists to pay a visit to the island.

There are several ways to get up close and personal with Mount Mottarone.
By car, the peak is easily accessible from Armeno via Provincial Road 41 or Lake Orta. Drivers also head for Mottarone via the road from Stresa towards Gignese. And there's another way to get to Monte Mottarone. The mountain is also accessible via a cable car, which starts at the Stresa Lido station.
Once you reach the top, Monte Mottarone offers spectacular panoramic views. The mountain, whose literal translation is "between the two lakes," towers far and wide above all other peaks. On one side, Lake Maggiore appears in all its glory. On the other side, the Cusio stretches across the horizon. And nothing, absolutely nothing, obstructs the view.

Isola Pescatori, Lake Maggiore Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen's Island), also called Isola Superiore (Upper Island), is one of the Borromean Islands in Lake Maggiore. Located in the municipality of Stresa, it is the only island in the lake that has been permanently inhabited since the beginning of the 14th century. The elongated island stretches approximately 350 meters from northwest to southeast and is about 100 meters wide at its widest point. The 3.4-hectare area is home to a fishing village in the southeast. An old avenue characterizes the northwest of the island. The harbor is located on the island's southern shore. There, fishermen have moorings for their boats, some of which are protected by a high stone wall. It also houses piers for water taxis and passenger boats. Isola dei Pescatori had 208 inhabitants in 1971, but by the last census (2001), the number had dropped to just 57. Sights The island's most striking building is the parish church, dedicated to Saint Victor (San Vittore). The multi-story houses feature characteristic long balconies, on whose railings fish is traditionally dried. The harbor entrance is protected by a life-size statue of the Praying Madonna. Beautiful stretch, I will do it again when the weather is good

Very rewarding route for the view.... and how many take-offs from m. Croce, with paragliding! I also continued up to m. MASSONE, then returning to the valley to the right (descending) of the ascent ridge, up to alpe Bagnone and then returning to Quaggione, beautiful. I recommend choosing a day of clear skies.
