Ancient border, the color of the cycle path changes, and the territory of Oltregiogo officially begins, what was once part of the Republic of Genoa beyond the Apennines

The original parish church, dedicated to St. Martin, bishop of Tours, was built in the Lombard era, on the site where it is still visible today, near the neighboring parish church of S. Maria dell’Argine di Novi L., just outside the town of Pasturana, located one kilometer further north, near the current castle, where the geological edge of the Pleistocene terrace slopes sharply towards Basaluzzo. The temple of St. Martin underwent, over the centuries, substantial functional and architectural changes, clearly highlighted during the recent restoration and consolidation works promoted by the current Archpriest. In the Carolingian era, the church of St. Martin probably became the seat of a Benedictine monastic settlement. The entire territory of Pasturana, together with Novi L., Fresonara and others, was donated by Emperor Otto I and his wife Adelaide to the monastery of S. Salvatore in Pavia, around 970. The Castle of Pozzolo Formigaro stands on top of an alluvial terrace overlooking the plain. Building of medieval origin, it was built around the 11th century as a defensive fortress on the plain. The entrance front, from the Sforza era, retains the carriage door and the grooves for the drawbridge. Today the municipal seat, it presents inside, in the fifteenth century wing, the fifteenth century frescoes created by the Tortona school of the brothers Franceschino and Manfredino Boxilio (Madonna with Child, Saint Lucia, Saint Biagio, Saint Francis), "torn" from the Church of S. Sebastiano (today of Nostra Signora delle Ghiare) and a wooden Madonna dating back to the 15th century

The Museum of the Champions is dedicated to two legends of Italian sport, Costante Girardengo and Fausto Coppi. Both lived most of their lives in Novi (Girardengo was also born there, in 1893) and have always been very much in love with their homelands. Although it is a nickname that became famous thanks to Coppi between the 1940s and 1950s, the first "Campionissimo" of Italian sport was Girardengo, winner of two Tours of Italy, six Milan-San Remo and three Tours of Lombardy.
