Castellania was already a parish in 1432. The original church was perhaps opposite the current one: remains of this building dedicated to San Marziano remain in the parish church and nearby. Today's church dedicated to San Biagio was certainly built on the ruins of the ancient one in 1700. It should not be surprising that the parish and the oratories were rich in paintings and sacred furnishings: the Rampini who had dominion over it for many years were protected by the Viscontis, and gave a Bishop to the Diocese of Tortona.

A small village in the province of Alessandria, Castellania is today synonymous with the two great cyclists who grew up here in the first decades of the twentieth century: Fausto and Serse Coppi.

The mausoleum dedicated to the brothers Fausto and Serse Coppi in Castellania Coppi. The area has just been redeveloped, with a pedestrian zone in front, and the large parking lot across the street. In the village it is also possible to visit the Casa Museo Coppi, with an adjoining documentation centre.
