Charcoal burning is an ancient craft that is now almost extinct, but in the past it was a decisive factor in the industrialization of entire regions: the blast furnaces of the iron and steel industry, for example, depended on charcoal to reach the operating temperature necessary for melting ore. As a result, entire regions were once completely deforested by charcoal burning, and it is only thanks to later reforestation that forests have grown again and nature can be seen.

There is an interesting bee station on the paved path to San Bernando. A box with front and back to open. In it you can watch the bees and look for the 🐝 👑.

After the long hike, there is a small self-service bar here, a bit hidden: various drinks and even ice cream. But please don't forget to pay (cash or twint)!

For me it was an extreme challenge to cross this bridge. I don't really have any problems with trains or exposed hikes, but with hanging bridges I reach my limit (fear of heights).

This suspension bridge is a real highlight. You should definitely cross it. Fascinating and frightening at the same time, considering what height it is and what length it is. In our opinion, it is only partially suitable for dogs. Ours had to be carried.

The panoramic trail to the suspension bridge is only recommended with sturdy shoes and good physical condition. The three hours we planned for this were too short.
